SKOPE CLASSIC 2020 CLASSES
Classic Saloons (COD and Genuine Classic Racing Cars)
This class is for genuine classic racing cars. Cars should have a MSNZ Certificate Of Description (COD) or be presented as it was run in its day (period correct modifications).
There will be two separate grids for this style of classic racing car, which will be split at the organisers discretion (authenticity, style of car, lap times and any other factors that may be relevant).
This class is for the more modern classic racing car. Cars that are classic in appearance, but running modern running gear. This will include Classic Racing Cars with modern motors and/or transmissions, 996 GT3’s, Australian Supercars and potentially other cars from 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s. (Cars in this class should use Appendix 6 as a guideline towards their eligibility).
Classic Saloons that are deemed too fast for the Classic Saloon Class may be put into this class.
Sports Racing Cars
Sports cars will be spread amongst the three saloon classes. We want to encourage cars like the MG’s, Lotus’ etc back to racing at Skope, so these will race against cars of similar size and speed, rather than be put in a field of fast Sports and GT cars.
V8 Muscle Cars
The title says it all. Anything that fits into the Muscle Car category should request an invite. Anyone currently running in a New Zealand Muscle Car Class will fit in perfectly. We know there’s going to be a lot of muscle travelling around the South Island at that time of the year, so if you’re looking for an extra non-points round, then please contact Mark at the Canterbury Car Club to express your interest.
Classic Formula Libre
This class is predominately aimed at Pre 1989 Formula Fords. The key to keeping this class fun and safe at the Skope Classic, has been to control the speeds of the single seater racing cars that have been invited, so most wings and slicks cars do not fit into this category (we have tried on a number of occasions to create a faster wings and slicks category, but unfortunately, there has been little interest). If you believe you have a suitable car for this class, please submit a Registration Of Interest.
The big V8’s thundering around the track are always a crowd favourite. Huge V8 stuffed in a lightweight chassis, always entertaining to watch.
Historic Touring Cars
The concept of this class is to cater for genuine touring cars from NZ, Australia Europe and Asia form 1980 through to 1994. These cars formed what would arguably be some of the most exciting racing of the eighties and nineties through the various series run around the globe.
50th anniversary of the Open Saloon Car Association. Many of the cars from the early days of this class are still racing, some have even have been rebuilt or dragged out of the shed especially for this gathering. Will be one to see!
